Obituary of Barbara V. King


Barbara V. (Sadler) King of Hingham, died peacefully on Friday, April 30th, 2010 at her home, surrounded by her family at the age of 87. Mrs. King was born in Pembroke, Maine where she lived until 1939 when she moved to Dorchester for a few years before coming to Hingham over 50 years ago. For 27 years Mrs. King was an inspector for the textile firm Armstrong World Industries. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Hingham and volunteered to help her many friends with their errands and meals. Mrs. King loved dancing and was an avid Elvis Presley fan. She was the wife of the late Earl L. King, Sr. and mother of Robert L. King of Burlington, NC, Earl L. King, Jr. of Port Richey, FL, David E. King of Hingham, Deborah A. Johnson of So. Weymouth and the late Priscilla Martinelli. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 17 great children. A Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday, May 5th at 11:30 a.m. at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham. Friends may visit at the Downing Chapel on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Interment will be in High Street Cemetery, Hingham.
