THOMPSON, Barbara Helen August 30, 1930 - October 31, 2010 Barbara Thompson passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer that she fought with courage and on her own terms. Barbara was born in Nova Scotia, and trained in the Naval reserves in sonar detection. She moved west and became an avid outdoorswoman who loved hiking with her friends in the Rocky Mountain Ramblers and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and harvesting wild plants. She lived in Waterville, Halifax, Winnipeg, Chilliwack, McClure, and Calgary. She was a consummate storyteller with a mischievous sense of humour. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. There will be an informal Graveside Memorial Service on Saturday, November 6, 2010 in Queen's Park Cemetery, 3219 - 4 Street N.W., Calgary. Celebrants to meet at 4 Street gate at 2:00 p.m. and proceed together to graveside. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
