PORTLAND, Conn. Barbara Cooper Stewart, 78, born April 5, 1927, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2005 from cancer. A lifelong resident of Albany, N.Y., she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lester E. Stewart Jr. An undergraduate of the College of Saint Rose's Nursing program, she received her master's in health education from Russell Sage College as well as advanced studies at Columbia University. She was employed as a teacher in the Manpower nursing program as well as a school nurse/health teacher in both the Albany Public and Cohoes School Districts. Many years were also spent as a nurse at Albany Memorial Hospital, Albany. Besides her vocation, she enjoyed visiting Cape Cod, quilting, knitting, painting, traveling around the world, reading, bridge, Capital Region 56er's, Clan Stewart activities and walking the dogs. Survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Donald) May of Portland, Conn; stepchildren, Susan (Stephen) Connolly of Canaan, N.Y., Lester E. Stewart III of Pittsfield, Mass.; a sister, Marion Cooper of Albany; and several grandchildren, step-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Funeral service Friday 1 p.m., October 28, 2005 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, corner of Main and Madison Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Tebbutt Funeral Home, 633 Central Ave., Albany. Interment will be in Memory's Garden Cemetery, Colonie.
