Obituary of Barbara-Shaw Carter


Barbara Shaw Carter, 77, of 1560 Thornblade Blvd., died Oct. 14, 2002. Born in Manchester, N.H., she was the daughter of the late Willard B. and Mildred Hood Shaw, and was the wife of the late Robert S. Carter. She was retired as a secretary from both church and civil work. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in N. Charleston and attended Christ Church Episcopal in Greenville. Mrs. Carter was an active and avid member of the church and was a member of Daughters of the King. She was also an avid reader. Two sons, Michael Carter of Simpsonville and David Carter of Hanahan; one daughter, Sherry Glison, of El Paso, Texas; and nine grandchildren; survive her. Memorial services will be held at Mount Zion Christian Fellowship Church Thursday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Michael Carter officiating. The family is at 202 Agewood Drive, Simpsonville. - Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, is in charge of arrangements.
