Barbara Mary Hayter (nee Hayes) 1931-2015 Décédée le 13 juin 2015 à l'âge de 83 ans Barbara Mary Hayter, nee Hayes passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving children, on June 13, 2015. Barbara was born in Halifax, N.S. Nov. 2, 1931 to Charles Tupper Hayes and Helen nee Finlay Hayes and had two sisters, Shirley and Alice, with whom she always remained close. She married Ronald Frederick Hayter of Halifax, and they had their four children, Helen Nicole, Deborah, Rhonda and Mark. Ron and Barb had a very happy marriage and Barbara tenderly cared for Ron before his too-early death in 1995. She was the first woman to hold her position at the credit office of Celanese Canada in Montreal and she made lifelong friends there. In her retirement, in Halifax, she became a very active volunteer and was a wonderful help to the staff and patients of the Veterans’ Hospital, and the gift shop and mammogram unit of the Halifax Infirmary. Almost a decade ago, she returned to Montreal to be close to Mark, Nicky, and her grandson Joshua. She formed many beautiful new friendships there and revived some old ones. In her last months, people who loved her came from all over to say their goodbyes and celebrate her life. She is survived by her children, three grandsons, her sister Alice Hilchie and husband Gord, sister-in-law Joyce, sons-in-law Stephen and Markku, Mark’s partner Catherine, and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family would like to thank the angels of West Island Palliative Care who cared for her so beautifully. In lieu of flowers, donations there would be deeply appreciated. A reception in her honour will be held, on Saturday, June 20th from one to three p.m. at J.J. Cardinal Funeral Home, 560 Lakeshore Drive, Dorval, QC, H9S 2B3.
