Obituary of Barbara-M. -Mary-Joan Clifton

CLIFTON, Barbara M. "BMJMC"Barbara Mary Joan May Clifton was passed into the arms of our Lord on May 8. She was born in West Haven, Conn. to the late Wilson and Anna May and grew up in Harrison, N.J. before moving to West Palm Beach, FL after retiring in 1983. The last two years she comfortably resided in Fountain Inn, SC with her daughter, Nancy and Suzanne Fay. Barbara proudly graduated from Jersey City Medical Center School of Nursing (NJ) in 1947. She compassionately performed her duties as nurse (RN) at Hyatt Roller Bearing in Harrison, NJ, West Hudson Hospital in Kearny, NJ, and finally as a school nurse for over 25 years for the Kearny Schools System. Barbara was a most generous person to her family, friends and a large variety of charities. Her thoughtful mailings filled with clippings and notes were eagerly anticipated and opened. She enjoyed dancing to songs of the Big Band era, relished the accomplishments of her family, and appreciated the simple things in nature that most of us miss, like birds feeding, blue skies or a good rainy day. Her close friends were as valued as her family. We will miss her distinctive laugh that made others smile. Preceded in death by her brother Wilson F. May, she is survived by daughters Bobbie Edwards of Clifton, NJ, Nancy Davis of Fountain Inn, SC and her son William Clifton and his wife Kathleen. Her grandchildren, Lauren Boehm and husband Steve, Chris Edwards and wife Lucy, Nikki Sauers and husband Jamie, William Finnerty and wife Rosy, Justin Davis and wife Maygan, Carly Clifton, Trevor Davis and Kevin Clifton. She was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren and her most faithful canine companion, Sprocket. A memorial service will be held on June 14th at 12 noon at Holy Name Catholic Church in WPB, FL to bring family and friends together in honor of our dearest Barbara. To express condolences and/or make donations: Visit PalmBeachPost.com/obituaries
