Barbara L. ClarkBarbara L. Clark passed away on Wednesday, April 13th, in Tallahassee, Florida. She was born on October 8th, 1931, in Washington D.C.She was cremated, with her remains to be scattered in the ocean, which was a special place for her. A Memorial Mass will be held for Barbara, in the chapel of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, in Tallahassee, Florida on Saturday, April 30th, at 1:00 p.m., for family and friends.Barbara grew up in the Washington D.C. area. She attended St. Anthony's High School and graduated near the top of her class. She married and had four sons, whom she loved dearly. She and her family moved to Florida, and settled in Jacksonville. As her sons grew, she decided to attend college to pursue a career in education.She attended Jacksonville University (JU) and graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Education. She later earned a Masters Degree in Education, also at JU. Barbara taught for almost 30 years, in the Jacksonville, Florida and Washington D.C. area schools, at both the elementary and junior high levels. She eventually left Jacksonville and moved back to Washington D.C., to be near her parents and siblings.In 2009, Barbara moved to Tallahassee to be near her son and his family, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barbara was quite an individual. She was very loving and had a strong will, as she basically raised and cared for her sons by herself. She was very artistic, and her handmade dolls and cross-stitch needlepoint creations were considered works of art by many.She was also extremely frugal by nature, but thoroughly enjoyed playing online mahjong as well as bingo with friends. Finally, although she was small in stature, she possessed a wicked sweet tooth---especially for a family member's homemade fudge! Barbara was pre-deceased by her son, Jeffrey Clark, who died at age six; her mother, Patricia Rodgers, and her father, Wilbur (Hookie) Rodgers.Barbara is survived by her son, Michael Clark, and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Forrest, of Tallahassee, Florida; son, Corbett Clark (wife Margaret) of Spotsylvania, Virginia; and son, Steven Clark, of San Francisco, California; her granddaughter, Terra Rou (husband Bryce) of Gainesville, Florida; grandson, Ian Clark (wife Laura) of Tallahassee, Florida; and grandson, Christopher Clark, of Warwick, New York; her great-grandchildren, Evan Clark, Brody Rou, and Graham Clark; her sister, Vera (Putchie) O'Boyle of Waldorf, Maryland; her brother, Richard Popp of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware; her niece, Terri Servetnick, of Waldorf, Maryland; her nephew, Frank Beck (wife Pat) of Mechanicsville, Maryland; her great nieces, Hannah Servetnick and Candace Servetnick; and her great nephew, Alex Servetnick.
