JOHNSON _ Barbara Joy (Hornby), born June 10, 1921 in England, passed away February 7, 2006 in Comox. "Babs" was predeceased by her husband Johnny (W.H.) of 61 years in November 2005 and her brother Peter Hornby. She is survived by her loving children, Jan (Bea), Jeremy (Dianna), Jill (Ted), and John (Heather), and nine grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother Tony Hornby and sister Betty Laker. Mum left England as a young girl to live in LaCombe Alta., then on to Saltspring Is. until WW II when she joined the RCAF as a nurse in McLeod Alta. where she met Dad. From here they went on to Chilliwack, Trail, White Rock, and Vancouver. Mum took care of family as well as working in a number of retail stores, "Men's and Boy's" on Dunbar, being her favourite. Upon retirement they moved to Sandy Hook in Sechelt where they made many friends. Mum loved her log house, the garden, being with nature and the family visits. They spent their last six years in Courtenay to be near family. Now she is finally at peace with Johnny sitting arm in arm overlooking the sea. Special thanks to those who provided loving care to our mother; Comox Valley Homecare, Carol Telford, Anne Lai, Leta and Jay Luchsinger, Marion Jones, Dr. Carol Galway, Gordon Carter and St. Josephs' Palliative Care and Hospice. No service by request.
