Johnson, 76, died Friday, July 27, 2012 at her home.A native of Edenton, NC, Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late Guy H. and Avelyn Willis Smith. Barbara was a long time and active member of First Presbyterian Church of Asheville. She received a Bachelor's Degree from East Carolina College in 1957 and was employed for over 30 years with the Employment Security Commission.Barbara is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jimmy L. Johnson whom she married on August 3, 1957. Mrs. Johnson is also survived by two sons, Scott (Stephanie) of Atlanta, GA, and Marc (Sherrie) of Syracuse, NY; three grandchildren, Anne, Tyler and Matthew Johnson; and a brother, Richard Smith (Penny) of Tampa, FL.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 31, 2012 in the Chapel of Morris Funeral Home with Rev. Margaret Torrence officiating. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, July 30, 2012 at the funeral home.Morris Funeral Home, 304 Merrimon Ave., is in charge of arrangements.
