Obituary of Barbara Jamieson


SMITH, Barbara (nee Jamieson). On Friday, April 21, 2006, while vacationing in England and pursuing her lifelong passion for antiquing. Pre-deceased by her husband Dr Sydney (Bunny) Smith in 2005, she is survived by their sons Christopher (Sheila) and Peter (LeeAnne) and grandchildren Sandra and Cameron of Winnipeg and Benjamin and Samantha of Georgeville; and by her sister Joan and brother-in law Jim Smith of Seattle. Barbara began her multi-faceted professional career doing code and cypher work as a WREN in Newfoundland during the Second World War. She then trained and worked as a nurse at the Royal Victoria Hospital, where she and Bunny met. In later years, she worked as a social worker, real estate agent and more recently as a transportation planner for the federal government. She will be sadly missed by her family and her many friends, in particular her dear friend Zelda Lanthier. In accordance with Barbara's wishes, there will be no funeral service.
