BARBARA J. DAVIS - SWANTON/MILTON - Barbara J. Davis, 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, in the presence of her loving family at her summer home in Swanton. Barbara was born April 29, 1940, in Burlington, the daughter of the late Bernard and Rose Tucker Root. On Sept. 3, 1960, she married Richard J. Davis in St. Ann Church in Milton. Barb worked for a number of years at York Capacitor in Winooski. She loved crafts, knitting, crocheting, tending to her gardens, or just playing cards with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Richard of Swanton; their six children, Barbara-Jean Jenkins and spouse, Beverly, Brenda Billings and spouse, Frederick, Penny Claypool and spouse, David, Ricky Davis and partner, Star Reynolds, Rae-Ann Lombardi and spouse, Jeffrey, and Scott Davis; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Bernard and Sandra Root, Richard and Dianne Root, Judith and Peter Pratt, Marvin Mannings, Ronald and Veda Root, Lourraine Vanslette, Lawrence Root and partner, Lisa Silvia, and Lynn Root; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and sister, Donna Mannings. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home, Route 7 in Milton. Vigil prayers will be offered by Fr. John Feltz at 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Feltz officiating.
