Barbara-Holmes Johnson, born in 1928, spouse of Robert-Dee Johnson, daughter of William and Mollie, mother of Linda Jane Johnson and Curt, died on May 8, 2010 at 82 years old.
Barbara Holmes Johnson, age 82 of Quinton Twp., passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at South Jersey Healthcare-Hospice Care in Bridgeton. Born in Montrose, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Mollie (Frink) Holmes. Barbara moved to Woodstown as a child and resided there until 1985, when she moved to Pennsville until March of 2010, and for the last three months she resided with her daughter in Quinton Twp. Barbara was a graduate of Woodstown High School Class of 1946. She worked for the law office of Oakford W. Action and Judge Joseph Narrow. She also worked for Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Co., of Salem, from 1984 until her retirement in 1998. She was a member of the Woodstown Presbyterian Church, Woodstown Curtain Call Club, Legal Secretaries Association of New Jersey and the Woodstown Mixed Couples Bowling League. Barbara enjoyed doing yard work and gardening, watching all different sporting events on television especially on Sundays. She also enjoyed her grandchildren’s activities; Michelle’s Color Guard/Band, April’s Softball and Michael’s Rodeo. She was a regular at Cowtown on Saturday nights and had a close bond with her cat Munchkin. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda Jane (Janie) Johnson Garrison and Curt Garrison of Quinton Twp., three grandchildren and a grandson-in-law, Michelle Renee’ Garrison Hee and Joseph Hee of Middletown, DE, April Renee’ Garrison of Elisinboro Twp., and Michael Howard Garrison of Quinton Twp.; and a brother William Holmes of Woodstown. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband Robert Dee Johnson (1999), and her brother LaVern L. Holmes. A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening, May 11th from 7 to 9 PM at H.T. LAYTON FUNERAL HOME, 102 S. Main St., Woodstown.
