Barbara Goodenough Edwards, 74, Sarasota, died July 23, 2003, at her daughter's home in Concord, Calif., after a long illness. She was born Feb. 15, 1929, in Coudersport, Pa., and came to Sarasota from Vestal, N.Y., where she worked for the Vestal Central School District. She received a degree in economics and art history in 1950 from Elmira College. She participated in a dementia study at the Mayo Clinic in Florida. She was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Vestal and St. Margaret of Scotland Episcopal Church in Sarasota. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Donald Welliver; daughters Barbara Baxter, Kathleen Rosen and Michelle Smith; her mother; five sisters; a brother; and seven grandchildren. Memorial services will be in Sarasota, Concord, Vestal and Elmira, N.Y. Burial will be in Vestal. Bryant and Moore Chapel, Concord, is in charge.
