She was 84 years old. Barbara was born in Utica, NY, to Margaret Dickinson Gray and her husband Latham Burberry Gray. She is survived by sister, Charletta G. Hubbard; her brother, Latham B. Gray Jr.; her niece, Gail H. Carlson; and several other nieces and nephews. Barbara graduated with a BS from East Tennessee State College and a master in physical therapy from the University of Washington. Barbara served in the United States Army from 1952-1979. She retired as an Army Colonel having served in many locations throughout the United States, and a tour in Viet Nam in 1966. Barbara moved to Sun City Center in 1995 with her long time friend Helen E. Price. Upon moving to Sun City Center, she enjoyed traveling, wood working and friends. Both Barbara and Helen became active with the Military Family Support Trust organization. Her legacy remains in a yearly scholarship presented to a promising high school senior to support their future college education. Barbara will be greatly missed by family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Feb. 2, 10 am, at Freedom Plaza Auditorium. Interment with military honors following at Sarasota National Cemetery at 1:30 pm. Arrangements entrusted to National Cremation & Burial Society- Ruskin.
