AUGUSTA, Ga. - Barbara Ann (Bobbie) Davis, Colonel, United States Army, Retired, died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 13, 2014. Born January 11, 1930, in New Haven, Connecticut, Col. Davis was the daughter of Jesse B. and Cora L. (Bloomingdale) Davis. She attended Hillhouse High School and graduated from Sergeant College. She earned her Master's Degree at Stanford University. She entered the U.S. Army Medical Specialist Corps in 1955 as a Physical Therapist and during her 22 years active duty she served at various duty stations throughout the United States and Korea. Her final duty station was at Eisenhower Medical Center, Fort Gordon, Georgia, as the Chief of the Physical Therapy Department. Following retirement, Bobbie made her home in Augusta, Georgia. She is survived by her brother, Jess; her aunt, Martha Mathewson; her dearest companion, COL Doris Sue Frazier, U.S. Army Nurse Corps Retired; cousins, nieces, nephews, and a gazillion friends, all of whom she treasured. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Church of our Savior Episcopal Church, 4227 Columbia Road, Martinez, Georgia, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014. Interment will be in Connecticut at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Col. Davis' chosen charities: Augusta Richmond County Animal Shelter or Hospice at St. Joseph's Hospital, Augusta, Georgia.
