Obituary of Barbara Cooley


Barbara M. Cooley (nee Speicher) Shorewood, WI Barbara M. Cooley, 91 years of age of Shorewood, WI formerly of Gary passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2005.Preceded in death by her husband, David, two infant sons, Robert and Charles and one infant grandson, William James Schneider; dear mother of Barbara D. Cooley; beloved grandmother of David James Cooley and Barbara Susan Schneider ("Bobbie". Further survived by many other family members and friends. Barbara was born in Geneva, Indiana and raised in Berne, Indiana. She earned her BSN at the Indiana University School of Nursing in 1936. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gary, Member of the Order of the Eastern Star, member of the School Board, PTA President, Girl Scout Leader, Gary Women's Club, President and Program Chairman. She and her husband owned and operated C&F Laundry Service, the first coin laundry service in Lake County and a Norge Village Dry Cleaning and Laundry establishment. She has lived near her daughter in Milwaukee, since 1989. A Memorial Service will be held at Ridgelawn Funeral Home located at 4201 West Ridge Road, Gary,IN on Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at 3 PM with Rev.John Baumgartner officiating. Interment will take place at Ridgelawn Cemetery. A reception will be held at the funeral home following interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association. Please call 219-980-5555 for information.
