Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at Rainbow Church of Christ for Barbara Ann Sosebee Brown, 75, Gadsden, who died May 6, 2014, at her home in Gadsden, Ala. She will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Ministers, Blake Jones and Norman Flynn will officiate. Burial will be in Rainbow Memorial Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Home directing.Mrs. Brown was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her but rejoice in her new eternal life with Christ. She worked in many ministries, such as jail and nursing home ministries and the World Bible School, to lead others to know Christ. Barbara was a member of Rainbow Church of Christ and loved her church family, helping and serving others. She retired from McRae's of Gadsden.Mrs. Brown leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 57 years, Acton E. Brown; son, Gene (Susan) Brown of Southside, Ala.; and daughters, Judith Brown and Denise Ezell of Prattville, Ala.; five grandchildren, Andrea (Dustin) Wilson of Jacksonville, Ala., Nathan (Emily) Brown of New Orleans, La., Jennifer Brown, Kendra and Brittany Ezell of Prattville, Ala.; six great-grandchildren, Lauren, Claire and Evelyn Wilson of Jacksonville, Ala., Gideon and Titus Brown of New Orleans, La., and Seth Brown of Prattville, Ala.; sisters, Billie Branton of Charleston, S.C., Carolyn Sanchez of San Jose, Calif., and Janice (Ray) Stephens of Huntsville, Ala.; sisters-in-law, Barbara Sosebee and Linda King of Gadsden, Ala., and Judy Cox of Moody, Ala.; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Cora Sosebee; sisters, Mabel Carter and Lucille Bivins; brothers, Roy Sosebee Jr., Earl Sosebee, Clyde Sosebee, Jackie Sosebee, Paul Sosebee and Dean Sosebee. Pallbearers will be Dustin Wilson, Adam Brown, Jeff Williams, Thomas Sosebee, Timothy Sosebee, Michael Sosebee, David Wallace and John Wallace.The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Amedisys Hospice who provided love and care to the entire family. Also, appreciation is extended to Dr. Francisco Robert and his assistant, Leslie Ledbetter of Kirklin Clinic.The family will meet at 5 p.m. and will accept friends for visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.Flowers are appreciated but in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the World Bible School at Rainbow Church of Christ.
