Groton - Barbara Alice "Bobbie" Barraclough Anderson wished she had been born a "willowy blonde dancer", wanted to study bridge design had she gone to college, and thought every wedding was the perfect time to dance on tables and make a friend of everyone in the room. She left us this past Monday morning, June 10, 2013, at Groton Regency where she was being cared for with advanced Alzheimer's. She was 83 years old.She lost her husband, Ivan Wilbur "Will" Anderson in 2007, and her oldest son, Erik in 1995. She is survived by three of her children, Dale Ely of New London, Todd Anderson of Bear, Del., and Jodi Smits Anderson of Albany, N.Y. Bobbie was also a proud grandmother to six and great-grandmother to seven. She handled her difficult last few years, most of the time, with dignity and good cheer. She was well loved, and we will miss her. Please join us at a memorial for Bobbie at 2 p.m. this Friday, June 14, at the Groton Congregational Church, 162 Monument Street.Cards may be sent to Jodi Smits Anderson, 840 Jay St., Albany, NY 12203-1625. Donations may be sent to either support the recreational activities that kept Bobbie active at Groton Regency, Genesis Health Care, 1145 Poquonnock Road, Groton, CT 06340-4620 Attn: Recreation Fund, or to Alzheimer's research through the foundation at www.Alz.org.
