Obituary of Barbara Anderson

ANDERSON _ Barbara Elaine February 19, 1933 - October 24, 2002 Barbara Elaine Anderson passed away peacefully in her home with her son Robert and husband Arthur (Andy) at her side. Barbara was born on February 19, 1933 to loving parents, Floyd M. Compton (father) and Mae A. Compton, nee MacCallum (mother), in Calgary, AB. Barbara lived in Calgary until going to U.B.C. to obtain her B.Sc. (H.Ec.) in 1956. Barbara met Arthur (Andy) Anderson in Banff, AB, and they married on September 21, 1960. Barbara taught Home Economics in the N.W.T., Kelowna, BC and Banff, AB. Many of her most fond memories were from living in the back country of Banff with her husband and Park Warden, Andy. They then moved to the Lake Minawanka warden district to receive the most recent addition to their family, their son Robert, in the spring of 1968. Then it was off to Yoho National Park, only to return to Banff in 1972 where Barbara resumed and finished her teaching career, retiring in 1987. Barbara and Andy moved to Vancouver Island in 1988 where they enjoyed golfing, gardening, Bridge and travelling together and continued her interest in handicrafts, gourmet cooking and volunteer work. Barbara kept her beautiful smile and zest for life until the end, proclaiming the she had the most beautiful and wonderful life and had no regrets, assuring her family and friends that they should not grieve but feel comfort in her love. Barbara took comfort in not saying good-bye, but believed we would all be reunited in time. Barbara, feel assured that all your family and friends will always have you in their hearts and that you will continue to live in us forever. There will be a celebration of life held in Barbara's memory on April 24, 2003 in Parksville, BC. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Arthritis Society. 319983
