Barbara Ann Hammond White, 69, of Waterloo, died Friday, March 17, 2006, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was a native of Lauderdale County, a member of the Church of Christ at Waterloo, a homemaker and enjoyed playing music with the group at the Senior Citizen Center in Waterloo. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today, March 19, 2006, at Greenview Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2006, at Greenview Memorial Chapel, with burial in Richardson Cemetery, Waterloo. Officiating will be Brother David Rushlow and Brother Wayne Gean. Barbara was a public school teacher for many years, including service as a home economics teacher. She served on the board of the Edith Newman Culver Museum in Waterloo and was a member of the Shoals Quilters Brigade. She was a gifted seamstress and sewed for the public as well as constructing clothes for her family and the needy. She was a graduate of Lexington High School, Freed Hardeman College, Florence State Teachers College, now the University of North Alabama, and the University of Alabama. Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Ruby Hammond. She is survived by a daughter, Susan Burroughs and husband, Anthony, and grandson, Ryan Burroughs, all of Athens, Ala.; three brothers, Billy Hammond and wife, Julia, of Eustis, Fla., David Hammond and wife, Carol, of Hoover, Ala., and Eddy Hammond and wife, Denise, of Madison, Ala.; three sisters, Delphine Garner and husband, Roger, of Moody, Ala., Edna Tucker and husband, Jerry, of Boaz, Ala., and Janis Wells and husband, Larry, of Lexington, Ala.; a number of nieces, nephews and friends.Pallbearers will be Tim McFall, Barry McFall, Robin Patterson, Les Weston, Wayne Wood and Jamin Dowdy. Barbara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and was married to her husband, Earl White, for 35 years.Greenview Funeral Home, of Florence, is directing.
