Walker, Barbara A.Newfield: Barbara A. Walker, 66, of Newfield, died peacefully at home after a long illness with cancer on Friday, October 28th, 2011. Barbara was born on January 25th, 1945 in Dryden, NY, the daughter of William J. and Joyce (Berean) Lesnick, Jr. Beloved wife of George E. Walker, Sr. (deceased - 2009) of 47 years. Mother to George (Monica) E. Walker, Jr., SFC, of Colorado Springs, CO, James W. Walker (deceased - 1998), Jerry L. Walker of Valley Forge, PA and Dennis (Ginger) J. Walker of Fort Collins, CO. Siblings Helen (Louis) Kimball of Dryden, NY, Bertha (Gene) Donahue of Groton, NY, John of Berkshire, NY, and Ilene (Mike) Craver of Charlotte, NC. Grandsons George E. Walker, III of Colorado Springs, CO, and Cayden Garrett Green (Walker) of Fort Collins, CO. Step-grandsons Cody, Preston, Gavin, Dakota and Tristin. Also, many nieces and nephews. Thank you to the oncology staff at Sayre, Hospicare, and many friends and neighbors for taking such good care of her during her illness. Barbara worked at Newfield Central School as a pre-k/headstart teacher's aid for over 35 years. She was active in her community, NCS booster club, US Census polls in 1980, 1990 & 2000. In retirement helped run the Newfield Community Good Neighbor Fund and food pantry. She also volunteered at many area senior centers and hospicare centers. She was a loving and selfless person that put others ahead of herself even during her illness. Calling hours are on Thursday, Nov. 3rd, 10 am to 12 noon at the Newfield Methodist Church with funeral services at noon by Rev. Janis Downing & Rev. Dennis Huff. Commitment at 4 pm at La Row Cemetery, North Van Etten, NY.
