Arthur R. NelsonJanuary 26, 2013Arthur R. Nelson, 83, of N. Fort Myers, Florida passed away on January 26, 2013. Services were held on 1/28/13 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Cape Coral, FL. Bud was born in Marshalltown, IA on 11/29/29. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1947 and attended Marshalltown College and the University of Iowa. He married Deloris Stubbs on 6/26/49; they were married 63 years. Bud worked at Dunham Bush Inc. from 1949-1991, retiring as Plant Manager. He was drafted out of retirement to manage the relocation of the Portsmouth Engineering Division in Havant, England and Bensheim, Germany. During his years in Marshalltown, he was a member of Elim Lutheran Church. He was actively involved in the: Y.M.C.A., Optimist Club, City Bowling Association, American Legion Golf Club and Elmwood Country Club. He was instrumental in the organization and development of Marshalltown Little League Baseball. He was preceded in death by his parents; Art and Agnes Nelson and sisters; Louise and LoRaine. He is survived by his wife Deloris; sons Arthur R. "Bud" Nelson, Jr. (Mary) of Sherman, TX, Andy Nelson of Bettendorf, IA, and daughter Cathy Gipson (Dan) of Avilla, IN.; 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Memorial donations may be directed to Messiah Lutheran Church in Cape Coral, FL.
