Obituary of Blondell-Joan Smith-Hadley


SMITH-HADLEY, BLONDELL JOAN, 69 of Orlando, passed away March 13, 2005. Born in Ft. Myers, Ms. Smith-Hadley was a lifelong resident of FL. She was a retired Registered Nurse for eight years with Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee. A member of the First African American Family in Ft. Myers and the first African American nurse at the Leon County Sheriff's Dept for four years. She is survived by her mother, Helen E. Pope of Ft. Myers; daughter, Paula J. Hadley- Jackson of Orlando; sisters, Helen Howard of Ft. Myers and LaKay Godfrey of Syracuse, NY; brothers, Frazier Pope, Jr. and Freddie Pope, both of Ft. Myers; grandson, Matthew D. Jackson of Orlando; aunts, Rosalee Bunion, Betty Floyd, Barbara Ford, Evelyn Wilson, Lois Perkins, Beatrice Hudson and Ella L. Smith-Price; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church on Saturday, March 19, 2005, at 5PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Comforter or All Saints Episcopal Church.
