ANDERSON, BETTY WREN BREELAND, 80, formerly of Winter Park, died Saturday, March 11, 2006, at Sharon Towers in Charlotte, NC after several years of declining health. Graveside Services will be held at 3PM, Saturday, March 18, 2006 at the Palm Cemetery, Winter Park. Visitation hours will be from 5-8PM, Friday, March 17, 2006 at the CAREY HAND COX PARKER FUNERAL HOME, 1350 West Fairbanks Avenue, Winter Park, FL 32789. Mrs. Anderson was born in Tylertown, MS on October 6, 1925. She was the youngest of five children born to the late Elisha Holmes Breeland and Ollie Elizabeth May. After graduating with honors from Tylertown High School she received a BA in English from Mississippi College in 1946. She taught English for two years before beginning her family. In 1960, she and her former husband, Dr. James A. Jernigan moved to Winter Park, where she resided until 2001. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Winter Park where she was active in the church women's group. She was a member of the Winter Park Beautification Committee and the Winter Park Parks and Recreation Board. From 1972-1991, Mrs. Anderson was employed as a houseparent and children's services counselor at Great Oaks Village in Orlando. She received the Social Worker of the Year from the Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association in 1989. She was married to Joe Anderson of Winter Park from 1978 until his death in 1989. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Humphrey and Larnell Breeland, and sisters Doris Warren and Ouida Lupo. Survivors include her children Dr. Marsha Jernigan Rhodes and husband, Kent, of Charlotte, NC, Judy Jernigan Atwood and husband, Charles, of Bogart, GA, Dr. James E. Jernigan and his wife, Vickie, of Mechanicsville, VA; stepdaughter, Joanne Anderson Kinsler, of Winter Park. She leaves behind her grandchildren, Spencer and Michael Rhodes, Louis and Lesley Atwood, and Kyle and Andy Jernigan; step grandchildren, Joe Kinsler and Martha Kinsler Tuttle and their children; and her great-granddaughter, Madeleine Rhodes. She also leaves two sisters-in law, Dorothy Breeland and Betty Jean Breeland; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by her former husband of 23 years, Dr. James A.
