STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Betty L. Smith, age 78, of Stone Mountain, formerly of Augusta, died Monday, May 5, 2008. She was preceded in death by her beloved dog, Herbie and is survived by children, Victoria (James) Frasier of Cedartown, Jerry Smith of Stone Mountain and Mike (Angie) Smith of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Shannon (John) Mitchell, Dawn Smith, Heather DuBose, Megan Smith, Mallory Smith, Durden Smith; great grandchildren, Mathew, Chandler, Chaz, Caleb, Morgan, Carson, Carter, Cooper and Harrison; and best friend, Curtis Caldwell. Mrs. Smith worked for 32 years as administrative assistant to the commanding general at Fort McPherson, GA. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 8, 2008, at 11 am at Lucerne Baptist Church with Rev. Larry T. Burgess officiating. Interment will be at 4 pm at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
