BETTY JO DAVIS, 76 DAVENPORT - Betty Jo Bennett Davis, 76, of Davenport, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at her home of respiratory failure. She was born in Alturas, FL. Betty was a home daycare provider for 20 years before becoming a volunteer for AmeriCorps and a substitute teacher for the Polk County School Board. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Davenport. Betty is survived by her daughters, Becky Mazur and Ann Davis of Davenport, and Lisa (Chris) Hill of Olive Branch, MS, seven grandchildren, Chris (Jena) and Jeremy Harn, Joshua and Lyda Jo Mazur, Kaylee, Katie, and Macy Hill, and great-granddaughter, Paisley Harn, two sisters, Sue Webster of Biloxi, MS, and Sandra (Frank) Merrell of Davenport, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Barbara Brown and Patricia Dorsey Lewis, her son-in-law, Lee (Signpainter) Mazur, all of Davenport, and her brother-in-law, Steve Webster of Biloxi, MS. Her life will be honored with a memorial service on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in Davenport. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Good Shepherd Hospice would be appreciated.
