MANCHESTER -- Betty E. Tims, 82, of Manchester, passed away surrounded by her loving family, Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013 at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.She was born in Augusta, Dec. 14, 1930, the daughter of Raymond and Marjorie (Grey) Pelton. She was a life-long resident of Manchester. After graduating from Cony High School, she married Cealand Tims and they raised their three children in Manchester. After raising her family, Betty worked in her own home for many years as a loving childcare provider. She enjoyed her time spent with family and friends.Betty's hobbies were reading and doing puzzles. She was a talented seamstress, making a lot of her own clothing as well as that of her daughter.Mrs. Tims was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 57 years, Cealand Raymond Tims; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Tims; and siblings Ray Pelton and Ann Morrissey. She is survived by her children, Gail Tims and her companion, Steve Lemay, of Caribou, Gary Tims and his companion, Andrea, of West Cumberland, and Allen Tims and his wife, Cindy, of Readfield; a grandson, Jason Tims, his wife Melissa and their children, Casidy and Katie; granddaughters Jennifer Gordon and her companion, Dave Weston, and her son, Dylan, Regan Tims and her children, Talia, Reid and Abigayle; a step-granddaughter, Jessica Douin, and her husband, Scott, and their children, Benjamin, Wyatt and Parker; a step-grandson, William Tims Jr., and his wife, Leslie, and their children, Cody, Courtney, Hayley and Hunter. A special mention to include Jamie Bernard, Jill Morris and Jordan Heide, who knew and loved her as Grammie Betty. She is also survived by two sisters, Gerry Bryant and Marie Baker; two brothers, Donald Pelton and his wife, Patricia, and Robert Pelton and his wife, Marion; and a special sister-in-law, Earlene Pelton.Relatives and friends may visit from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26 at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta, with a celebration of life at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, the funeral home.
