ELLISON, BERTHA LEEMrs. Bertha Lee Ellison of Steinhatchee passed away at her home Sunday, January 31, 2010. She was 95. Mrs. Ellison was born on November 10, 1914 at Bowlegs, a community that existed in the early 1900's located between Rocky Creek and Horseshoe Beach, to Jimmy and Elizabeth Valentine. She was a homemaker, mother and an avid fisherman. She was the owner of Ellison Fishery and a founding member of the Jena Pentecostal Holiness Church. Her husband, Oliver Ellison, a son, Carl Ellison and 3 infants, brothers, Mack and J. W. Valentine and sisters, Gladys Valentine and Ruth Lee Phillips, precedes her in death. She is survived by sons, Edward (Gainelle) Ellison of Horseshoe Beach, James Ellison, Arther (Wanda) Ellison, and Gary Bruce Ellison, all of Steinhatchee; daughters Catherine Hawkins of Steinhatchee, Lucille Molloy of Richmond, IN, Violet (Bobby) Kincaid of Trenton, FL, Myrtle (George) Williams of Gainesville, FL, Judy (Robert) Durham of Perry, FL, and Pamela (David) Canon of Cross City; sister, Rosa Lee Valentine; 35 grandchildren, 79 great grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Jena Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Carolyn Oglesby officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Jena. A visitation will be held Monday evening at the church between the hours of 5 and 7 PM.
