SMITH, Mrs. Bertha L., 89, a beloved mother, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at Woodley Manor Nursing Facility. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. from Day Street Baptist Church with Rev. R. Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Eastwood Cemetery with Phillips-Riley Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Smith is survived by her loving daughters, Constance Sator and devoted son-in-law, Gene; Marilyn Smith, Marsha Van Diver and Fannette Kennedy; step-daughter; sisters, Jereline Bethune and Nellie M. Elmore; Cousin, Flora Andry; Grandchildren, Maria Nicole Jackson, John Isiah Smith and Joshua Elijah Van Diver; Nieces, Bertha Beasley, Brenda Colbert (Gregory), Kathy E. Sawyer (Alvin); Nephews, James Bethune, Donnell Bethune and Milton Bethune (Constance); a host of other relatives and friends.
