Obituary of Barbara-R. Cox

Barbara R. Cox, 89, passed on December 8, 2011 Barbara Ruth Cox left this earth and is heaven bound to spend Christmas with her beloved husband Elliott Cox. Her last few months were surrounded by family with much love and great comfort. She was cared for by her daughter Leslie Correll in Salem, SC and died quietly and peacefully early on that December morning. Barbara was born in Quincy, MA on December 29th, 1921 to Robert and Hildor Everson. She attended North Quincy High School and graduated in 1940. She held a position as a secretary in Norwell, MA after graduating from High School. She was always busy working, raising her children, caring for others, and being an active member in her church. Some of her family's most cherished memories include the beauty shop where she was a hairdresser, the General Store they owned in Wiscasset, ME, and The Milkshed Ice Cream Shop. Barbara moved to New Smyrna Beach, Florida with her family in 1979 to be with her grandchildren, where she remained a resident until her last days 32 years later. She loved the Indian River and spent countless hours at Maynard Park in Edgewater. Barbara was always active and a proud member of her church Servents' Quarters Fellowship. She will always be remembered as one of the most caring giving people, especially by her family and many lifelong friends she made over the years. Barabara R. Cox is survived by son Peter R. Johnson of Rockland, DE; and daughter Leslie J. Corell of Salem, SC; granddaughters, April J. Morley, Valerie P. Spencer, Alicia Kenndey, Kyle Holsinger-Johnson; great grandsons, Harley D. Steedley Jr., James E. Steedley; and great granddaughter Dayna J. Hasson.
