Audrey Smith DavisMidwayMrs. Audrey Smith Davis, 81, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at St. Joseph's Candler Hospital in Savannah after an extended illness.Mrs. Davis was a longtime resident of Midway and retired after 19 years of service to Chatham County School System as a bus driver and safety trainer. She was a member of Fleming Baptist Church where she taught the Faith Ladies Sunday school class. Mrs. Davis was a former president of the Lake George Property Owner's Association, a member of Lake George Volunteer Fire Department and member of the Lemerick Ladies Club. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed traveling and crabbing and loved her friends and family.She is survived by her husband of more than 66 years, Martin "June" Davis of Midway; two sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin E. "Eddie" and Marie "Chris" Davis of Bloomingdale and Mike and Lynn Davis of Black Creek; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and the Rev. Alfred Banks and Tammy and David Carter, all of Richmond Hill; one brother, Steve Smith of Eden; six sisters, Doris Dickerson of Ellabell, Louise Steedley of Ohio, Joann Canada of Midway, Elizabeth Sailor of Maysville, and Saralyn Wells and Debbie Beasley, both of Pembroke; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.The funeral is at 3 p.m. Friday, June 8, at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Alfred Banks and the Rev. Michael Carden officiating.
