PORT ORANGE, Fla. Arvin W. Harrington III died October 3, 2005. He was born March 3, 1922 in Boston, Mass. and was a Naval veteran of World War II, moving to the Port Orange area in 1972 from New Jersey. He attended Steven Institute and Columbia University, receiving his graduate degree from Rutgers University. He held federal security clearance for atomic installations and was involved with the first atomic submarine. He retired as vice president from an international trading company, specializing in metals, in 1972. Arvin continued on as a consultant in this field for many years. He was a member of the Sons of the Revolution and Sons of the American Revolution. He was married to Lorraine Davis of Orange, N.J. for 56 years. He is survived by Jeanne Evans, Manning, S.C., Patricia Pratt, Port Orange, Eve Worden, Averill Park, N.Y., Kay Matejka, Deltona, Judiann Rakes, Ormond Beach, Richard Harrington, Daytona Beach, Mark Harrington, Tucson, Ariz., Steve Harrington, Jacksonville Beach; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
