WILLIAMS, Arthur November 6, 1927 - September 12, 2008 Art Williams of High River, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2008 at the age of 80 years. Art served with the British army during WWII, in Burma. Following his service, Art worked as a chauffeur for British Steel, before becoming a steel worker. In 1967 Art left British Steel to start a new career in the automotive industry, in Brighton, UK. He accepted a position with Chrysler Canada in 1974 and immigrated to Calgary, where he specialized in air conditioning repair. Art's knowledge and love of automobiles lead to him to becoming a service manager of various dealerships in Calgary. He was a devoted family man, and was proud to support his country. Art was a lifetime member and served as president with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 285. He attended many conventions in support of the Legion and its members. Art is survived by his son Ralph and daughter-in-law Sheila; granddaughter, Heather; grandson, Marcus; seven great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Joel, Hollee, Spencer, Hope, Marshall and Megan; sister, Eira Bilham; as well as several other family members in the UK. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Ted, Dave and Dill; sisters, Olwen and Mattie. A Memorial Service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Centennial Branch (No. 285, 9202 Horton Road S.W.) on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com .
