ARTHUR A. GODWIN 1917 - 2010 Arthur A. Godwin, 93, of Pensacola, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, who will be greatly missed. Mr. Godwin was born March 23, 1917 in Coolsprings, Alabama. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII in Europe and Africa. He was on Omaha Beach during the invasion of Normandy and received two Silver Stars, a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He was self employed and made his own way. Being self employed afforded him the time to be with and enjoy his family. He is survived his children, Leigh G. Russell, Phillip S. Godwin, Lisa L. Pirie, and David A. Godwin; grandchildren, Beth Michelle Bayless, Christopher J. Russell, Alan Pirie V, Abbey Pirie, Blaine Williams, Brant Williams, Bailey Godwin, and Brooke Godwin; great-grandchildren, Jonathan P. Mosca, Erik A. Mosca; great-great-grandchildren, Katherina Mosca and Paula Mosca; and sister, Alma Walden. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park with military honors.
