Arthur Gerald MacKenzie - May 25, 1920 - June 14, 2004 - 84, Halifax, died June 14, 2004, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Arthur P. and Mary (Smith) MacKenzie. Arthur was a veteran of the Second World War, having served with the Reserves and RCA Militia before serving overseas with the regular force. He retired in 1970, after serving for 31 years. He had been a member of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires. He was a life member of Windsor Park CPO's, PO's, WO's and Sgt's Mess; a life member of the Canadian Army Provost Corps, Military Police. He was an honorary life member of 5449 Council, Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Helen Patricia MacKenzie; son, Arthur (Louise), Ottawa, Ont.; daughter, Donna (Giles) Doutre, Stewiacke; sister, Mick Greenman, Bedford; brother, Donald (Helen) MacKenzie, Victoria; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marie; sisters, Florence and Marion; brothers, Robert and Clyde. The body is resting in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Visiting hours are today and Wednesday, June 16, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass will be held in St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Willett Street, Fairview, at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 17. Cremation will take place with a private burial to follow, Father Duncan McMaster officiating. Reception to follow.
