Arthur-E. Anderson, born in 1921, spouse of Geraldine Anderson, father of Keith E, Lynne M, Drew, Calif, Erika D, Anthony, MD, Douglas A, Karen and R. I, died on January 4, 2010 at 89 years old.
ANDERSON Arthur E. Anderson, age 89 of Fairfield, beloved husband of 50 years of Geraldine (Geri) Perrott Anderson, passed away peacefully Monday, January 4, 2010 at the Carolton Convalescent Hospital. Born in Bridgeport, he had been a lifelong Fairfield resident. A graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School, Class of 1938, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II where he was assigned to the 323rd Air Service Squadron of the 305th Air Service Group in the China-India-Burma Campaign. Following the War, Arthur graduated with a BS degree in accounting from the University of Bridgeport. He worked for 22 years for the Bullard Machine Tool Company and following his retirement, worked as a security guard at the South Benson Boat Marina for 22 years. He received an honorary plaque from the Fairfield Police Department for his dedicated service. He was a member of Fidelity-St. John's Lodge #3 A.F. & A.M. where he received his 50 year pin and was also a member of the Scottish Rite. He was a member of the American Legion Post 74 and VFW Post 9427 in Fairfield. Arthur was a gifted athlete. He excelled in basketball where he was a member of the Bridgeport Newfield's semi-professional team and also played on the U.S. Army All Star Basketball Team. Mr. Anderson also enjoyed playing golf, bowling and ballroom dancing. Survivors in addition to his loving wife Geri, include four beloved children, Keith E. Anderson of Redding, Lynne M. Noone and her husband, Drew of Walnut Creek, Calif., Erika D. Psacharopoulos and her husband, Anthony of Potomac, Md. and Douglas A. Anderson and his wife, Karen of Exeter, R.I.; eight grandchildren, Shannon, Conor, Rory, Cole, George, Emilia, Kaitlyn and Brooke; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Alfred and Clinton and two sisters, Lily and Elsie. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 8, 2010 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Fairfield. Military honors will be rendered following the service. Interment will be private. Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
