->Anderson, Arthur "Artie"Arthur Anderson, 78, of Hampstead, NC, died on May 27, 2013 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center. Artie was born on May 28, 1934 in New York. He served in the US Marine Corps as an embassy guard in Germany. After leaving the Corps, Art joined the Yorktown Police Dept., retiring as a Sergeant. While in New York, he was an avid NY Giants fan, holding season tickets.Many local residents may remember Artie from working at the golf courses in the Wilmington and Hampstead areas. He loved the game and played every chance he got.Art leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons, Andy Anderson (Colleen) and Dwayne Anderson (Cheri); a daughter, Sally Wachowski (Dan), all of New York; 7 grandchildren; and his partner of 13 years, Mary Ann Green.Private services will be held at a later date.
