WILLIAMS, Arlene, 82, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at Calvin Community in Des Moines, where she had received loving care since March of 2005. Arlene was born September 14, 1924, to LeRoy and May Morell in Detroit, Mich. She lived in the Detroit area, working for Ford Motor Company and Spartan Foods as a secretary and human resources director. Arlene was a deaconess for many years at Trinity Church of the Brethren in Detroit, until relocating to Florida with her husband, Robert, upon their retirement, and transferring church membership to the Asbury United Methodist Church in New Port Richey. While there, Arlene and Robert were active in the church and community, devoting their time and hearts to the Meals On Wheels program, a food bank, a homeless coalition and several other service organizations and endeavors. As a pacifist, Arlene actively engaged in promoting activities that would build a more peaceful and loving world. She is survived by her children, Dale Forbes of Salinas, Calif., and Diane Eby of Dallas Center, Iowa; grandsons, Graham Forbes and Adam Forbes of San Diego, Calif.; granddaughter, Charlotte Eby of Des Moines; and brother, Kenneth Morell of Flint, Mich. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Malcolm Forbes; husband, Robert Williams; her parents; and brothers LeRoy, Jack, Phillip and Donald Morell. In accordance with how Arlene lived her life, those who remember her could best serve her memory by doing a kindness for someone in need.
