BARRE - The life celebration and service of remembrance for Arlene E. Lyon, of Bolster Avenue, was held Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Barre. She died Jan. 11, 2012, at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center. The Rev. Craig Thompson, pastor of the church, led the service. Organist Lorna Carty accompanied the congregation in the hymns "O That Will be Glory" and "How Great Thou Art." She also accompanied soloist Rosie Badeau in the anthem "Ride the Chariot" and the trio of Shirley Clark, Pat Archambeault and Connie Weston in the hymn "In the Garden," on the piano. Words of remembrance were offered by her cousin Donald Allen, son-in-law Nelson Hodges, grandson Tim Hodges and nephew Gary Pierson. Also speaking were church colleague Dawn Basner, who read a poetic tribute, and former National Life co-workers Betsy Florucci Pierce and Joyce Gingras. Later interment will be made in Hope Cemetery. Fellowship and luncheon followed in the church dining room. The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre, was in charge of the arrangements.
