Aretha-Mae Fields-James, born in 1952, spouse of Joseph Strickland, daughter of Clarence and Doll, mother of Raechelle and Tiki, died on June 3, 2014 at 62 years old.
Aretha James, 62, of Bradenton, passed away on June 3, 2014 at Blake Medical Center. She was born here in Bradenton and was employed at the Bradenton Herald for 30 years. Her survivors include her daughters Raechelle and Tiki James, both of Bradenton; her granddaughter Ciara Carnegie of Bradenton, her great-granddaughter Kennadi Haynes of Bradenton; sister, Janice Fields of Bradenton; brothers Clarence (Lynn) Fields, Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., David Fields of Bradenton, and Carlton (Frena) Fields of Palmetto. Also her Stepsisters and Stepbrothers of Ft. Wayne, In. and Atlanta, Ga.; her long time companion, Joseph Strickland and a host of Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded by her mother, Doll Fields of Bradenton, her father Clarence Fields, Sr. of Ft. Wayne, Ind., one brother, Charles Fields of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and her granddaughter Jazmine Thompson of Bradenton. Funeral Services will be held June 14th, 2014. Viewing being at 10a.m.-11a.m. Services immediately following at 11a.m. at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at 525 Martin Luther King Ave. East, Bradenton, FL, 34208. Bradenton Funeral Home, 5827 14th St. W., Bradenton, FL is handling all arrangements.
