Ara Belle Hester, age 103, Russellville, Ala., died Sunday, July 6, 2008.Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Akins Funeral Home, before the 2 p.m. service in the funeral home chapel. Brother Wayne Boyles and Brother Grady Parrish will be officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Memory Gardens.Pallbearers will be Rod Johnson, Casey Johnson, Randy McKnight, Larry Greenhill, Graton Hester and Jordan Boyles.She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter P. Hester; parents, John and Elta Mae Rikard; brothers, James G. and Hubert Rikard; and niece, Peggy Rikard.She is survived by many nieces and nephews.She was a charter member of Frankfort Missionary Baptist Church; belonged to the United Daughters of Confederacy; and a longstanding member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Genealogy was one of her favorite pastimes. She began her teaching career at Vina, going on to teach at Frankfort and then the Russellville school system then returning to Frankfort, where she devoted most of her 40 years teaching first grade.Akins Funeral Home assisted the family.
