<!-- FH = Harwood Home for Funerals -->Anthony "Tony" MurphyBlack Mountain - Anthony "Tony" Murphy, 83, of Black Mountain, passed away Monday, December 10, 2012 at home with his loving wife by his side. Mr. Murphy was born July 9, 1929 in Massachusetts to the late Daniel and Gertrude Murphy. Tony was an active member and loved the Black Mountain community. He shared his music with residents and visitors. Tony taught music and played the piano, trombone, harpsichord, and xylophone. He was also a member of the Bobby Lee Trio. Tony was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the Air Force Band. He also was an amateur photographer and loved the mountains. Tony also volunteered at the Black Mountain Center. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. Tony is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Barbara Jayne Murphy; children, Coleen Riley, Daniel, David, and Dennis Murphy; 6 step children; 9 grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, December 21, 2012 at 12:00 pm at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
