->MADISON -- Annie B. Owens, 78, died Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at the Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan.She was born April 23, 1929, in Bingham, the daughter of Milton and Ethel (Hunnewell) Baker. She graduated from Bingham High School as valedictorian of the class of 1947 and graduated in 1951 from Farmington State Teachers College with a bachelor's degree in education.She was married Oct. 13, 1956, in Bingham, to John R. Owens.She began her teaching career at Fairview School in Auburn, later taught school in Beverly, Mass., and for 20 years in the Madison school system, retiring in 1989.Annie was a member of the First Congregational Church of Bingham; a 59-year member of the Bingham Grange No. 237, where she served as Master for two years and as secretary for 27 years; a member of Somerset Pomona No. 6 serving as secretary for 15 years; a member and past Deputy of Maine State Grange; member of the National Grange; a member of Delta Kappa Gamma; Somerset Retired Teachers Association; Philathea and Mission Circle of the United Baptist Church in Madison.She is survived by her husband of 50 years, John R. Owens of Madison; her children, James Allan Owens of Madison and Janet (Owens) Wilson and her husband, Scott, of Somersworth, N.H.; grandchildren Amy Burleigh and her husband, Travis, of West Kennebunk, and Andrea and Micah Wilson, both of Somersworth, N.H.; a brother, Lewis Baker and his wife, Pauline, of Bingham; two nephews, Jordan Baker of Bingham and Milton Baker of Sparks, Nev.; several grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Giberson Funeral Home, 18 River St., Bingham. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at the First Congregational Church on Meadow Street in Bingham with the Rev. Arthur Rudman officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Solon.In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial to the Bingham Grange No. 237, c/o Leola Rollins, 404 Stream Road, Moscow, ME 04920.
