Annie Mary Moriarty Annie Mary Dash Moriarty, 91, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. EDT Tuesday at St. John's Episcopal Church, Alfriend Hall in Tallahassee. Family will receive friends following the service in Graham Lounge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308; or St. John's Episcopal Church, 211 N. Monroe St., Tallahassee, FL 32301.Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home (877-8191) is handling arrangements. Mrs. Moriarty was born in Valdosta, Ga. At an early age, she and her sister moved to Tallahassee where they lived with their aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Ashenhart, who at the time owned the historic Randall-Lewis House on Calhoun St. A graduate of Leon High School in the class of 1928 , she married the late John Earle Perkins Jr.; a member of a pioneer Leon County family.At the time of their marriage in 1934, they moved to Key West where she was employed as a secretary to the director of the rehabilitation of the city under the Roosevelt Administration's "New Deal" and her husband was an engineer for the Overseas Highway project. While visiting when the Hurricane of 1935 occurred, they decided to remain in Tallahassee where Mr. Perkins was employed as an engineer for the former State Road Department.After the death of her husband in 1952, Mrs. Moriarty worked as a legal secretary in the Attorney General's office. In 1962, she married John Dempsey Moriarty, an assistant Attorney General. Following her employment in the Attorney General's office, she became the secretary to Justice Campbell Thornal of the Florida Supreme Court.At the time of his death in 1980, Mr. Moriarty was legal counsel for the Department of Revenue. As a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Mrs. Moriarty was active in many church affairs. She belonged to the Daughters of St. John's, was chair of the annual St. John's Bazaar and co-chair of the bicentennial needlepoint project.She is survived by two sons, John Earle Perkins III (and wife Virginia) and Everall Dash Perkins (and wife Mary Warren), both of Tallahassee; two grandsons, John Earle Perkins IV of Palo Alto, Calif., and Lewis Barber Perkins of Atlanta; a sister, Katherine Dash Edwards (and husband Tincy) of Tallahassee; and a sister-in-law, Kathryn Jean Perkins of Tallahassee.
