SOUTH PORTLAND - Annie M. Morin, 93, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at Seaside Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Portland. She was born May 22, 1912, in Allagash Plantation, the daughter of Ralph and Amanda Dionne Jackson. She attended schools in Allagash and St. Francis. After the death of her mother when she was eight years of age, Annie lived with several families while growing up in the St. Francis - Allagash areas. She married Oscar Morin, Dec. 27, 1928, at St. Charles Catholic Church in St. Francis. Annie, who was a tireless worker, followed her husband into the lumber camps where he worked. In 1934, she spent the winter in a log cabin as the camp cook, while raising two of her children. The couple moved to the South Portland area in 1943. Annie was employed for 19 years by the Maine Central Railroad. Prior to that, she had been briefly employed by Burnham and Morrill. Annie was a resourceful person, and was an accomplished seamstress and knitter. She made many of her children's clothes, made many quilts, and knit hundreds of pairs of mittens for her family. She also donated many of these handcrafts to her church. She also enjoyed bowling and bowled for many years at the Big 20 Lanes in Scarborough. She was a communicant of Holy Cross Church, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Railroad Workers and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Oscar, who died in 2001; and a son, Sheldon O. Morin who died in 1942. Surviving are two daughters, Corinne Feeney of Gorham and Anita Stivaletti and her husband, Albert, of Cumberland Foreside; four sons, Reynold J. Morin and his wife, Billie, of Ashboro, N.C., Ervin P. Morin and his wife, Judith, of Old Orchard Beach, Roland E. Morin and his wife, Jean, of Cape Elizabeth and Gerald H. Morin and his wife, Mary Ann, of Portland; 34 grandchildren; 50 great-grand-children; and six great-great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home Monday at 8:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 9 a.m. at Holy Cross Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Church, care of the Parish Office, 11 Aspen Ave., South Portland, ME 04106.
