Annie Laurie Jackson, 94, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Greenville, died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at Sardis Nursing Home. Mrs. Jackson was born Jan. 28, 1907, in Langley, a daughter of the late Collie Theodore Croft Jennings and Laura Garvin Jennings. She worked for many years at Donaldson Air Force Base in Greenville, Hunter Air Force Base in Savannah, Ga., and retired from Charleston Air Force Base in Charleston in 1977. Known as "Mommy Ann" by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was an independent and strong willed person, and will be missed. Mrs. Jackson is survived by her children, Sylvia P. Henderson of Charlotte, Bunny Knebusch of Charlotte and Robert H. Painter Jr. of Gaffney; nine grandchildren, David Henderson, Laurie Wood, Jean Pimento, Jimmy Henderson, Robert H. Painter III, John G. Painter, Kenneth M. Knebusch, Patrick S. Knebusch and Christopher C. Knebusch; and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert H. Painter Sr.; and her second husband, Kenneth F. Jackson. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, at the graveside at Woodlawn Cemetery in Greenville, with the Rev. Scott Wachter officiating. The Jackson family would like to thank the nursing staff at Mercy South Hospital and at Sardis Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to their mother.
