Athens, Ga. - Mrs. Annie Jo Owens age 83, of Athens, Ga. died May 6, 2004. She was born July 31, 1920 in Oconee County, the daughter of the late Howell P. White and Lena Hartley White. Her adult life was spent in Athens where she was retired from the J.C. Penney Company.Her loving ways were known to family and friends alike. She embraced life and all its gifts with the heart of a child. Her generosity and spirit will live on through those whose lives she touched.She was preceded in death by a son, Steve Turnell, a brother, C.T. White and a sister Runa Richardson. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Charlie Owens. She leaves a son, Joe Turnell and his wife June, a daughter, Diane Mostiler, four granddaughters, Suzanne Watt (Brian), Beth Turnell, Stephanie Mostiler and Andrea Ridgely (Randy), one grandson, Cliff Mostiler (Stephanie), five great grandchildren, Avery Watt, Phillip Hamilton, Mercedes, Marlies and Sarah Baldwin. She is also survived by her best friend, Gwen Morton.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday May 10, 2004 in the Chapel of Bridges Funeral Home with Rev. Thom Shores officiating.
