Obituary of Annie-Hailey Morgan


MORGAN Annie Hailey Morgan, age 91, of Bridgeport, entered into eternal rest Sunday, May 15, 2005. Born in Anderson, S.C., September 15, 1913, to the late Walter and Mary (Hatton) Hailey, she was the wife of the late Thomas J. Morgan. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Shirley A. Fountain, Thomasina D. Morgan and Janet L. Morgan, all of Bridgeport, Desiree Cipriano, of Maryland, and Theresa Colomb, of Stratford; a sister, Lucia Chavis; and a brother, Earnest Hailey, both of Bridgeport; a god-daughter, Joyce Turner, of Trumbull; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 10 siblings. Annie was a founding member of Russell Temple C.M.E Church, where she began the first Mattie E. Coleman youth group she was a member of the Clerkly Circle, superintendent and Sunday school teacher. She was also organizer and founder of the Morganaires Gospel Group. Calling hours will be Friday, May 20, 2005, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Russell Temple C.M.E. Church, 555 Connecticut Avenue, Bridgeport. Services will follow at 11 a.m. in the Church. Interment will follow at Mountain Grove Cemetery, Easton. Arrangements are entrusted to Lester Gee Funeral Home, 1390 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport.
