Annie "Scotty" Carter, 90, of St. Augustine slipped her earthly bonds peacefully Sept. 3, 2006. She was born Oct. 23, 1915, to Benjamin and Daisy McCain in Jasper. A talented and resourceful woman, Annie loved her family dearly, and was blessed with many friends. She loved to garden and enjoyed sharing fresh and home canned jars of vegetables with everyone. She loved to have company over and cooking many a wonderful meal for them. She taught herself to how to become an excellent seamstress and was very good at understanding and putting plans together. She also loved to sing, and participated in several Church Choirs in the area.She worked as the church secretary at Ancient Baptist Church for many years until she became the secretary to the administrator at Flagler Hospital until her retirement. It was remarked that it took two people to take her place when she left.In her retirement she loved to travel, and frequently spent her summers in the cool of the North Carolina Mountains, and her winters back at home here in St. Augustine. She was loved by her family and her friends, and her smile, her laugh, and her touch will be missed, until we meet again.She is survived by her loving granddaughter: Marilyn Garrett, and grandson: Dr. Robert L. Meade Jr.( Sherry), Her devoted son-in-law: Robert L. Meade Sr. all of St. Augustine, sister: Bennye Robinson of Tallahassee, Brother James McCain of Jacksonville, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.The family will receive friends at a Visitation at Craig Funeral home today from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held Friday, Sept. 8 at 10 a.m. at Anastasia Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Moore, conducting, followed by burial at St. Augustine Memorial Park.Services are entrusted to Craig Funeral Home and Crematory.PAID NOTICE
