Anne V. Halpin FlanaganMarch 16, 1924 - April 23, 2011 ANDERSON, SC -- Anne Veronica Halpin Flanagan, age 87, wife of the late Norman E. Flanagan, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011 at National Health Care.Born in Lowell, Massachusetts to the late John T. Halpin and Anna Riley Halpin, Mrs. Flanagan served during WWII at Fort Devin's Army Hospital as an Army nurse cadet. It was here where she met her husband. The newlyweds moved to Pawtucket, RI where she was the plant nurse at the Owens Corning Fiberglas and began their family. In 1960, the family moved to Long Island, NY where Mrs. Flanagan worked at Nassau County Hospital then as the Director of Nursing at a private nursing home and extended care facility in Oceanside. In 1968, they moved to Anderson, SC where she worked for several years at Anderson Memorial Hospital in the Surgical Unit. Mrs. Flanagan then worked for National Health Care where she retired from nursing in 1986. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was very involved in many activities. She was the South Carolina Catholic Woman of the Year on two different occasions.Mrs. Flanagan is survived by a son, Kevin Paul Flanagan and his fiancé Julia Frow of Miami, FL; three daughters, Norma Ann Flanagan and her partner David Carpanzano of Milford, CT, Karen Flanagan Jacobo and her husband Eric of Davie, FL, and Joyce Flanagan Kay and her husband Sammy of Anderson, SC; four grandchildren, Kelli Flanagan Jones and husband Bradley of Gulf Shores, AL, Zachary Kay and Nicholas Kay, both of Las Vegas, NV, and Scott Jacobo of Davie, FL; three great-grandchildren, Aubree, Colbie, and Cohen; one expected great-grandson, Sebastian; one brother, Donald Halpin of Clearwater, FL; and one sister, Carol Decker of Tuscon, AZ.In addition to her parents, Mrs. Flanagan was predeceased by her husband, Norman E. Flanagan; one brother, John Halpin; and two sisters, Dorothy Richardson and Patricia Caughlin.FLANAGAN -- The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Brother Henry Fulmer, OFM officiating.
